August slump

Fishing seems to have slowed.  The water inshore has really warmed up and I've been on foot a lot lately which has made it challenging.  I'm still finding fish but not the same numbers and they sure aren't biting as well.  I've tried fishing off the rocks a little and working the higher incoming tides to find some cooler water.  Lots of bait around still especially especially mackerel and sandeels.  I don't mind a little slow fishing this time of year.  I'm still enjoying the sunrises and warm sunny days.  I've taken a lot more pics of sunrises than fish lately.

Picked this one up first thing in the morning.  Should keep me motivated until the fall.

  3. Down in my neck of the woods i have been catching bass most mornings in 76 degree water. The main reason is lots of bait in shallow. I think the fish are there, but the action is at first light when the water is at its coolest for the day. nice bass!

  4. They sure will put up with extremes for food. They just don't seem to be in the same mood when the water is that warm up here. At night and in low light periods it is much more likely to find them feeding. The fish have easy access to cooler water and actually the inshore water can flip and be a little cold if the wind blows offshore for a day or two.

  5. I'm not sure why, but that "fish not biting" thing seems to be everywhere. A very strange summer, indeed.
